cable as specified; My secondary use case didn't work.

I was able to connect my old DV camera to a recently purchased old laptop with a firewire port. Excellent for transferring DV tapes to a laptop hard drive. The real reason I wanted this cable was so I could reuse an old camcorder as a 24/7 security camera. It did not work. After a few hours, the laptop lost contact with the camcorder, even though the camcorder was still on. Disconnecting and reconnecting the cable will resume feeding. Not reliable enough for 24/7 recording. However, I'm not…

Worked as advertised

During this pandemic you have time at home to convert 8mm and DV to digital media. But my old cable got lost and found this cable. Worked well for what I needed. Good workmanship and looks high quality. The package arrived on time. No complaints

defect upon arrival.

Tried to use this to transfer tapes from a MiniDV camcorder. I tried it on three different FireWire ports and it wasn't recognized. Maybe I'm just unlucky or the cheap cables don't fit.

The cable worked great when connected to my old laptop via FireWire.
