They are well made and very airtight. They have a vent that can be opened for the microwave. However, I'm not suggesting that you close the vent while anything inside is still hot. Because they are so airtight, as the item cools, the container will begin to explode and go into a compressed state. Leave the vent open until cool.

We live on the go most of the year and they are perfect for our lifestyle! They can be folded up to save space, but are robust. They can be baked in the oven and in the microwave. I even run them in the dishwasher without heat drying. Each one holds three regular servings or two large servings when full. They don't rattle on bumpy roads, but stay together in action.

I really like these containers. I'm working hard to find an alternative to all plastic and this is a winner. So far they clean great in my dishwasher and take up much less storage space than my glass containers with plastic lids. Shipping was also minimal and everything that comes in the box is biodegradable. All that remains is to remove the stickers from the box for recycling. I liked these containers so much I bought all the other sizes of the same shape. Extremely durable, space-saving, beautiful colors. I have MCS and many heads just don't work for me. I like the light weight of these jars compared to the current heavy glass jars I currently use. However, these containers do not clean very well, as there are always many large "water stains" whether they are hand washed or machine washed. I don't know what this "movie" is. There shouldn't be any soap residue as it should be rinsed off during the wash cycle and it's not "water hardness" since my water is "soft". I will not be using these containers again in the future.
