Can't wait to get them but 5 out of 9 candles didn't work. Tired of several new batteries in each one even removed by the workers but to no avail. At that moment, I didn't even bother with the remote control. Of the 4 remaining candles, 1 was very sensitive and flickered when touched. Disappointed for the price and must return. I don't want to change, I'm afraid the same thing will happen again. The design feels nice and solid, doesn't look premium but would do the job.

I live in Florida and because these candles are plastic and not wax, they won't melt. They are also 100% waterproof as the battery and electronics compartment has a large round plastic screw at the bottom, preventing water or moisture from getting in which can cause corrosion or water damage. I bought them to put lantern lampshades in flower pots. You really wear them. The timer works great. They press "turn on" and then for 4 hours (that's what I do) once at 8am (you have to stand by each pot to do this) and from that day on they come in at 8pm and leave at midnight. I installed them on June 10th and now it's July 18th. So far they work every night and I haven't had to change batteries. I'm sure I will eventually, but so far so good. I am impressed that all of my candles worked exactly as they should after I added 18 AA batteries that I bought at the Dollar Store. The remote control came with the battery already installed. At first one candle didn't respond to the remote BUT I took the batteries out and put them back in, after that everything worked. I ended up sending my set back because the orange glow was too intense. I thought it looked very cheesy, almost like Halloween. I've never heard other reviewers complain about this, so maybe I was lucky, but the orange was as bright as a pumpkin and I wanted something more realistic. The reason for the return was: 1) The color is different from the other set - yellowish compared to ivory. 2) Didn't seem to flicker. 3) The light went all the way down, and I don't have any others (since they look like real candles with lighting only at the top).
