good mobile amateur radio antenna

very powerful antenna 144/440. NMO mount on top of pickup cab. Yes, it was disassembled (halved) to save on shipping, but there were no problems installing it. SWR from 1.2:1 to 1.3:1 in all areas without further adjustments. Folding is very convenient (but don't forget about places with limited height), especially in situations with a valet.

Pros
  • regular price
Cons
  • defects present

THIS IS A RETURN PROMOTION! UNUSED ITEMS FOR RETURN!

You can't get any less than 1:8: on VHF, and it's relatively narrow. Most VHF is around 2 and up, completely useless and sucks for reception. I think it showed 5 at 160 so be careful. Also, the antenna I received was already scratched and worn, so you'll probably be returning a damaged antenna like me.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Functionality

Great high gain dual band amplifier

Great dual band antenna. Fits right into my NMO door mount. I ended up buying a feather as you can see in the photos. I recommend you take a feather. I bought this antenna to replace a dual band antenna that looked like a cell phone antenna. This is a 3.8/6.2dB VHF/UHF antenna that allows you to receive more distant stations. I use VHF for analog on my FT-7800 and UHF on my TYT MD-380. I recommend this antenna. It's black and you can't even see it unless you get close. I highly recommend this…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Don't really like it but it's ok

The NMO mount is not waterproof.

Every other NMO antenna I've ever bought had a rubber grommet that went between the base of the antenna and the area around the NMO mount. These gaskets were used to keep water out and to protect the painted area around the NMO mount. This antenna does not have this type of seal. It has a small rubber grommet (similar to a water hose) that fits between the threaded portion of the NMO mount and the antenna. While this can isolate the NMO mount from the antenna, it does not protect against water…

Pros
  • Not only useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Too blunt

Great antenna! for portable audio and video

Here is a brief overview of my new Comet dual-band antenna. So my previous antenna was the Comet SBB-2 and this antenna had pretty incredible range. So when I bought the Comet CA-2X4SR, I expected nothing but perfection. Last night I encountered a repeater 272 miles away and the incredible build quality of this antenna. I would definitely recommend this if you have a ham radio and are looking for a mobile antenna. It is available in both the NMO mount option (which I have) and the PL-259…

Excellent broadband on antennas

Reception seems on par with other mobile antennas I've used, but broadband is what I bought it for. SWR below 2:1 in all declared ranges PLUS range of 220 - I didn't expect that! I have yet to try this on the 220 band, but my antenna registered less than 1.5:1 SWR over the entire band. The GMRS repeater frequencies (467.xxx) are a little over 2:1 SWR but it isn't advertised to broadcast in that band so I can't fault it. It seems strong enough, but I'll probably add an extra spring section to…
