Barnes & Noble Nook Color LED Lit Charging Sync Data Cable with Green Charging Indicator (No Tablet Screen Display) Review

Finally a charger for my old Nook Color that fits and charges. Nook is charging. It charged my Nook from very dead to full quickly. I might order another one in case I need it later. My device is in perfect condition, the factory cable was terrible and BN customer service was unhelpful.

Warning on product page: * PLEASE READ: This cable is not an OEM 5-pin cable (not 12-pin like the original Nook Color cable) so it will NOT show the charging status on the actual Nook Color tablet display (only the LED of the cable). Unfortunately the Nook 7 doesn't fit and I need to find a way to hold the cable and find the right position to charge the Nook. Looks like I should replace it already and I'm not happy with it. Unfortunately, my options for getting a Nook 7 charging cable seem very limited. I wouldn't recommend it unless someone was desperate like me.

This charging cable has worked perfectly for 34 days. Today, just 4 days after sending it back, it stopped working. The tip should glow green when the Nook is charging and red when it's charging. The charge in my Nook has dropped below 40% and the tip is still green. I was hoping it could charge while showing the wrong color, but it doesn't. The cable helped us get through the holidays, so I can't say it's completely useless, but at around $0.50 a day it feels a bit pricey.

I ordered these to replace the original junk that came with my Nook Color and they ended up falling apart as many others have reported. My local B&N no longer has the original cables so I had to order them and found them. Like the smart guy that I am, I ordered without fully reading the entire product description and realizing that this is not the same standard as the original B&N cable and that this one TAKES MUCH, MUCH LONGER TO CHARGE. Still better than nothing. However, and it's my fault…
