No more dead batteries

I have three of these batteries to keep the 12v batteries charged on various small used machines (boat, generator, lawn tractor, plough). I put a diode in series to protect the panel from battery at night (not sure if this is necessary). These things stand up to rain, snow and all those harsh winters. In bright sunlight it puts out about half an amp.

I got it about 4:30 Michigan time, put it on the kitchen table and connected a voltmeter to the terminals and the meter read about 4 volts, held it to the window, cranked it up to 14 and left. outside and got around 22. Might not output the 24 it's rated for, but I think I'll have no problem getting that when it's sunny outside. The quality of the wire seems pretty good. If there are any problems in the future or I learn something new about…

Uncoated panel best for medium sun exposure

I connected this 7w panel to a size 27 Deep Cycle using a cheap Schumacher charge controller. It didn't show any charge at first, so I had to expose the panel to the sun for it to show the charge. The controller voltage was 8 to 9 VDC when placed in a window and jumped to 13.5 VDC when the panel was placed outside towards the sun. 4 flat mount plates. The battery connector is on the bottom and has a 6 foot straight wire to the panel. At first I thought the glass in the box broke, but pieces of…
