This was a replacement for an older model where a fluorescent bulb had burned out and is no longer available. This new unit has a slightly smaller mirror and the new bulb is dim and looks very yellow. We're looking for a brighter, whiter bulb. The block is very easy to install; I plugged it straight into the box in the wall. The device is fine as we preferred the brighter white light of the previous model.

Booo Yah! This mirror is just perfect! My wife wanted one after staying at a famous waterfront hotel in San Antonio. I ordered and installed it via Hard Install. Installation and electrical wiring are carried out in the wall and comply with the standards. Not everyone will want to perform this type of installation, but they will love the cordless look. Aside from that, it's designed for a hard mount, works and looks great! Good product!

Product was what I wanted: 8x magnification (had to get too close to 10x) with wired (straight, not thick coil) electric cord. As mentioned in other reviews, the light wasn't bright enough for me, so I replaced it with a 5000K SMD LED bulb (aka corn bulb) (6000K was too bright for me) with an E-12 socket. Now it's perfect for me. Removing the case to replace the lamp took a bit of work as it was very narrow. Given the expected lamp life (30,000 hours), I don't need to do it again.
