Connection is not waterproof

I bought these to replace some Mercury outboard quick disconnects. The circuits are exposed to salt water and must be waterproof. The connection between plug and socket is not waterproof. There is a gap in this connection. I didn't crimp the wires to see how waterproof the wire connection is. I returned the product and bought the OEM connectors.

Pros
  • Splice
Cons
  • So far so good

You separate yourself from the vibration. #fail

A connector does one thing: it connects. It's not like this. With every vibration, they just separate. To be clear, plugs and sockets are easy to use, crimp correctly and shrink to seal. The problem is that connectors fall out of the sockets (one at a time) with every vibration and are therefore absolutely NOT reliable. A score of "zero" for a task they must complete. If your application is fully stationary and secure, this might work for you. But I had a car and they failed. Not recommended.

Dangerous garbage! - Industrial Electrical

They are dangerous because they appear to be properly crimped but in reality are hardly capable of frictional engagement. The wire pulls out easily after using my good quality ratchet crimping tool and that was with the 18 gauge wire in the pink connector. If the crimping is good, the wire and connector fuse under the pressure of the crimping tool and can no longer be separated. On five trials, the wire pulled out easily with a light two-finger pressure, even after resetting my ratchet crimp…
