Description of XR840091 Heater Control Valve Assembly - Compatible with Jaguar S-Type, Lincoln LS, Fo-rd Thunderbird 2002-2008 - 3 Port Type XR8-40091

Replacement OEM Part Number: 1147412175, 65326015101, R3020-138589, XR840091, 6860143, 2R8Z18495AA, 2R8H18495AB, 2R8H18495AC. Fits for 2002-2008 Jaguar S-Type (from VIN# M45255); 2003-2006 Lincoln LS; 2004-2005 Fo-rd Thunderbird. The heater control valve (or hot water valve) opens and closes to allow warm coolant to flow through the heater core. Air passing through the heater core creates hot air in your vents. It sits between the water pump heater hose and the heater core. The heater control valve is found in front of the firewall of the vehicle. By opening the heater control valve, you can allow additional coolant to flow through your heater core. The core acts as an additional mini-radiator to keep the coolant system from overheating for a longer period. Those few extra miles could make a big difference when traveling away from home or on interstate highways where you could be stranded. Common Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Heater Control Valve: 1. Heater doesn’t work; 2. Leaking coolant; 3. Erratic heater behavior.

Works as described, great price!

Solved a common problem of older Lincoln LS models that were replaced 8 years ago before purchase. Works as it should and installs with no problems. Very important!

Pros
  • Heater Control Valves
Cons
  • Operating Speed

Good replacement part

Painful to change (not the part's fault) but fits and works as it should. Will upgrade to 5 stars in a few years if still working.

Pros
  • Automotive
Cons
  • Bad instructions

Well built replacement part

For the Jaguar S-Type remember that when replacing this valve you may also need to clean the vehicle's temperature sensor. It's behind a small sliding panel just above the ignition key. In addition to the valve, you need 2 short pieces of hose.

Pros
  • Heater
Cons
  • New competitors appeared
