Works great in serial adapters

I'm an embedded engineer and needed one for a project using 3.3V logic levels for the UART interface with a microcontroller, works great.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Negative impression

Works as expected on my W7 64-bit machine

Works as intended on my W7 64-bit machine. Just wanted to add for newbies like me that the pinout (RX and TX) refers to the TTL = NOT PC side. Just be aware that this confused me for a while

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Fragile

Works but no documentation.

I used it in Linux Mint and it works great but contains absolutely no information. Make sure you copy the pinout and color code from the pictures in the listing - you will need them. A simple piece of paper wrapped in a cable pouch wouldn't be that heavy.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • For the old

Convenient serial input from your project to your laptop!

These things are great! I use them all the time for my projects at home when I need some sort of serial port. I mainly use them for menu driven applications where you basically just need a terminal on a laptop. But these things work very well and I've been very happy with them the whole time, so I use their snot!

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • Not the best

Works well for computer accessories and peripherals

I'm an embedded systems engineer. My current project involves my client's custom control board. This control board has a connector that connects to the UART. Since this control board doesn't have a display (to show an error message for example), I needed a means to send debug chatter to a terminal program running on my PC. This product worked well as an interface from the controller board UART to a USB hub.

Pros
  • Very good value
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

perfect for flashing a Netgear R6300v2 router

This thing worked great with Windows 7; Win 7 recognized and installed the driver immediately. Following the online instructions listing this cable, I connected 3 of the 5 or 6 wires to 3 of the 4 wires that I soldered to my Netgear R6300v2 router motherboard. This cable was necessary for the Internet. Instructions to do some things with the router to prepare it to receive DD-WRT.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Bought it for the Beagle Bone Black.

It works, but be aware that the six-pin connector you plug into the beagle bone is quite long, and if you're trying to plug the beagle bone with this thing on a To attach target cape, the six pin connector will get in the way. The only way around this is to bend the pins on the beagle bones and place them at a 45 degree angle. Windows 10 didn't recognize it either. Look in Device Manager and you will find the device that needs a driver. You need to search the internet for "FT232R USB UART…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
