Description of Coolerguys 40mm (40x40x20) High Airflow IP67 Waterproof 12V Small Fan

ENVIRONMENTAL RESISTANCE: IP67 design technology allows this to be completely dustproof and waterproof (rated to be submerged up to 1m for 30min). HIGHER AIRFLOW/LOWER NOISE: Updated blade and motor designs allow this to put out 12.3 cubic feet per minute with a noise level of 36db. That's quieter than the ambient noise of nighttime in the suburbs or a standard kitchen fridge. LONG LASTING: Dual ball bearings give a long projected lifespan of up to 67,000 hrs--that's over 7 years. Backed by manufacturer with a 3 year warranty. STANDARD CONNECTOR: Standard 3 pin native connector (30 inch length) allows for easy adaptability with many systems. Contact us if you need to determine which is the positive, negative, or tachometer (speed sensor) wires as they're all painted black.

Don't ignore the reviews that say it's too loud

I had an 80mm in my orchid garden in my office and I really liked it so I went with the 40mm as it was would be easier to hide it in plants. . I had to listen to all the reviews mentioning how noisy it is. That's about 10 times louder than 80mm. I really couldn't concentrate when he was working. In terms of functionality, this is a powerful little fan that moves a lot of air. Decided to buy another 80mm.

Pros
  • fans and cooling
Cons
  • boring packaging

Moves a lot of air.

A bit noisy but to be expected so no star deduction for that. Great little fan. You don't always want to be in the same room with these fans. They will annoy you.

Pros
  • Internals
Cons
  • Good but not great

Powerful little fan for the price!

Satisfied with the purchase Decided to lower the voltage to 5V to reduce the fan noise. I also love that it's waterproof!

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • No automatic

Moves a lot of air.

Pros
  • High test scores for hold and durability
Cons

Small, moves the air and LOUD!

Addendum: This fan has been running 10 times a day for almost a year and still has no problems. I solved the noise problem by moving the fan to a box that circulates air through ducts to my vivarium. Added star for durability! It's a very small fan that moves a pretty decent amount of air, but it's very LOUD. For my use in a terrarium this is a major infraction as it stuns inside!

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Modern
