Copper Barfly Scalloped Julep Cocktail Strainer Review

If you're a bartender, you're gonna want these. I beat them to hell everyday at work and they don't fade or anything. If you're serious about bartending you need to buy these. Money spent well.

You're not going to get a better strainer than this. The spring is much tighter than similar strainers. The frame is heavy and has a quality feel.Because the spring is so tight, getting it off to clean is a bit more of a pain than other strainers, but it's worth the extra effort.

Use it to strain wattery egg whites when poaching eggs in a pot of hot water. But, only good for average size eggs.Yes, I understand this is not the intended purpose. :-)

Nice size. Lighter in weight but solid. Quality of the finish, antique copper, especially on the handle is not as good as I expected but overall is fine. I have doubts as to how well the finish will hold up over time but I like the look.

This cocktail strainer was a perfect fit for the shaking tins (as it should be seeing as they are both from barfly). The strainer is easy to use one handed. Cleaning is simple especially if you clean it before anything has a chance to dry. I tend to be a bit too aggressive and get pieces of sponge stuck in the spring. However should you need to remove the spring it's an easy task. Reattaching the spring is simple as the guide is immensely helpful. I purchased the vintage set and so far couldn't

This is by far my favorite strainer. Sturdier than most, looks pretty cool too. Color doesn’t peel off either (like some other brands).

The size of the product was not clear from the description when I purchased mine (early 2020). I wanted to be cool like Greg from How to Drink, but this julep spoon is too small to use one-handed with my glass cocktail mixer. I can make it work using 2 hands, but a properly sized julep spoon would wedge into the cocktail mixer for one-handed use. That would allow me to steady the cocktail glass with my other hand to help avoid spillage.
