This is a great little paper cutter. First I tried the one at the stationery store and then the Hobby Lobby. But I use a very heavy 180lb box and they didn't cut cleanly so I returned them and paid a little more for this one. Good crispy slices! I would buy this again. (However, I wish the manufacturer had provided a locking mechanism to secure the blade when not in use.) Okay, I just put it in the box between uses.

I really haven't found a small cutter that I'm happy with for map making. I've tried wire cutters and haven't found one that works consistently well. I really like my large guillotine trimmer, but it's too big for most of my needs. I really hoped that I would be happy with that. This is fine for very small cuts, but as I get closer to the bottom of the cut it never quite cuts - either cuts unevenly, breaks, or doesn't cut at all. Very disappointed, hoping for the best. Wouldn't recommend it.

You'd think it would be great to have a cutter and a kerf in one tool. However, the cutting lines really get in the way when you need an accurate cut. Instead of notches at the base of my trimmer, I'd rather have measurements. Measurements do not extend to the top of the trimmer. Therefore, it is difficult to ensure that your paper is placed accurately. I bought this trimmer to make small cuts (less than 2 inches). Less than an inch is almost impossible.
