Red is not for late picnics!

As a 32 year military service I know chemical flashlights, the military term for these 12 hour glowsticks. I noticed that one reviewer was not happy with the red ChemLights' lighting capabilities. Yes, if you want to light up a large area or even a two man tent in a safe place, red is probably not the best color choice. On the other hand, if you are looking for a ChemLight that draws less attention to your position and is harder for animals and humans to detect, red is the color of choice. This

I've found them to last the advertised time, note the white and blue are rated for a shorter time than the others, 8 hours versus…

Pros
  • The chemiluminescent substance is non-toxic and the plastic case is phthalate-free for safety
Cons
  • Does not fade

First I have to say that they last a very long time. Mine glowed for over 12 hours. The second not. very . bright - At peak brightness, the glow stick I bought at the dollar store wasn't as bright, but perfectly acceptable for the dollar, and you get a 3 with a neck cord, which Cyalume doesn't have. The one I got from Walmart was just as good as the Cyalume BUT they were over $1 each (I got 20 Cyalumes for $19.99 from Revain). turn it off when not needed. I would have thought the military would
