Good antenna for Portable Audio & Video

Good antenna. Great performance at 440. Decent performance at 144. Very solid construction and stands up to the elements.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Get started: Portable Audio Video

Seems to be working fine. The magnet is too strong if so. Someone told me I didn't have any static today so this is definitely an improvement over my stock antenna. The SMA connector is tiny if you know what I mean, but it rotates freely so I don't think that would be a problem.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Weak

solid quality Great sign.

I have had several $25 antennas over the past 5 years. This antenna is much better. Very thick, won't flex at highway speeds. SWR less than 2.0 at 2m. The supply line is solid. The connection quality is perfect and waterproof. Double the price of my old antenna, 10 times the quality. Excellent signal reporting. 80 miles on a simplex over a 5 watt garage.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Fine

Poor performance, best for fixed CB radios

This antenna looks great, easy to install, but performs worse than my small whip antenna when used with my dual band handheld antenna. The base is attached to the metal roof of my car, so no grounding problem. It could be a loss caused by the length of the included RG-58 cable so I ordered a new SMA connector which I will use after cutting the cable to the length I need on my x -page need.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Damaged

The signal could travel 125 miles in a straight line at 5 watts

I have this magnetic mount antenna to use my Kenwood TH-D72A in a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. I went to the other side of the island to get my friends and APRS sent me my position. Looking at the logs I saw that I was being heard directly from a station on another island 125 miles away. I can also connect more repeaters on the island with this antenna compared to the Diamond SRH77CA when I'm not in the car.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Some small things

Works great, no negative feedback

Works great, no negative feedback. Use it with my HT temporarily until I fit a cell phone in the truck. Stern, with the HT antenna in the cockpit. Receive good signal reports from other stations through local repeaters. Now I'm in no rush to install the radio. It works so well, only cable issues and detaching the HT to charge. Would definitely buy again. K6RJA

Pros
  • CB & Radio
Cons
  • Difficult to say

Outstanding Diamond quality as usual

Diamond quality is already evident in this antenna. Very strong on all sides including the magnet. While not recommended, I leave it on the roof of my car 100% of the time to hook up a 2m/70cm handheld scanner or scanner. The SMA connector fits most radios, but not Motorola, which is possible with an adapter purchased from Revain. If you want durability, Diamond will be tested. There are cheaper dual bands out there but they don't last as long as the Diamond brand from my modest ham radio…

Pros
  • CB radios
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
