Exterior bulbs converted to LED

I have installed low voltage bulbs in a bar which has a typical problem with bayonet fittings. Everything burned down. Used bulbs 906/912/922. Cut the cord from the old sockets, pull out the old socket, put on the clamp and replace with these G4 based sockets. They fit the old bracket (not perfect but good enough), put in G4 LED bulbs and now I have a working low voltage LED downlight in our outside bar. I found her pleased.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • unreliable

They burn out and don't last long

I use heat resistant ceramic wire connectors and related connections but these connectors keep failing. Where the lamp pins touch, they almost burn and stop working. I can open the fixture and shake the bulb in the socket, which eventually cracks like corrosion from the "soot" and lights up, but that's temporary. I've replaced three of them on the same device and it's going on. They are made for MR16 bulbs so they need to be able to withstand the heat of MR16 bulbs.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

No reflector to reflect heat down when using halogen bulbs.

I bought these to replace a weak two pin reflector in my 4 inch halogen headlights. (12 volts). The halogen headlights got so hot that the reflective baffles discolored and cracked. They must also have the pin socket charred and will only work if held properly. I installed these DiCUNO Bi-Pin base replacements and installed LED lights instead. First, it's only about 5/8 inch in diameter. They hold the pins very firmly - you may have to wiggle them back and forth to fully seat them. Nice work…

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Expensive
