Malfunction. Cannot get help from this company or Amazon

The product is defective. I can't get any help from this company or Amazon. Do not use this company. Do not buy this product as you may receive a defective product and no one will help you. Even if you return the money, you only get half back. Don't use these guys!

Pros
  • No PC or Driver Required - Scan and save digital film directly to SD/SDHC cards (max 32GB). Comes with a 32GB SD card. You can operate this home roll film scanner yourself.
Cons
  • Some errors

Film quality was key

I was good at digitizing film. Super8 performed better than 8mm. 8mm showed film holes. The quality of the copy depended entirely on the quality of the film. Some of my 50mm 8mm were difficult to copy because they became brittle and cracked. I was happy to salvage what I could. All my Super8s copy well.

Pros
  • Regular 8 and Super 8 Roll Film Optional - The Super 8/Regular 8 switch lets you easily convert Regular 8 and Super 8 video files to MPEG-4 (MP4) video files.
Cons
  • Good, but not great

Misaligned film drive mechanism

When Super 8 film is fed as directed and the edge of the film is under the two small tabs, the pin that guides the small film will not align properly with the perforations in the film. fails to advance the film through the machine about 50% of the time. Achieve unacceptably poor results.

Pros
  • Frame capture for HD conversion - Converts 8mm and Super 8 film to MPEG-4 digital film (MP4) files at 1080p/30 fps.
Cons
  • Crumpled packet

I got ripped off! on Office Electronics

Manuel's instructions are terrible. Doesn't teach. Must have been written by a preschooler. Didn't give any stars for image quality or color balance because the Super 8 didn't move. The take-up spool moves without film loaded. The film spins and winds on the spool with no film loaded, but when the film is loaded the film does not move. Why?

Pros
  • Plays scanned videos. View your scanned film on the built-in 2.4-inch full-color LCD screen or project directly onto a TV using the included TV video-out cable.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Misaligned film drive mechanism

If Super 8 film is loaded as instructed and the edge of the film is under the two small tabs, the small film advance pin is not properly aligned with the perforations in the film. Pros
  • Scanned video playback. View your scanned film on the built-in 2.4" full-color LCD screen or project it directly onto your TV using the included TV video cable.
Cons
  • Everything OK

Badly aligned film drive mechanism

When super 8 film is run as instructed with the edge of the film under two small tabs, the small film drive pin is not properly aligned with the perforations in the film. This causes the film to sag slightly, resulting in the machine not feeding the film through the machine as it should about 50% of the time. This leads to unacceptably poor results.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
