Nice project for kids who love owls

my 3 year old grandnephew loves owls. I bought this cross stitch kit to give as a gift. His grandmother told me he squealed with delight when he opened the box. I particularly liked the fact that the colors of the floss were pre-sorted and attached to the cardboard strip with their respective code numbers.

Pros
  • arts, crafts and sewing

Suitable for beginners on Counted Kits

This is my second time making this pattern. I made the first one for my daughter and the dogs ate it so now I have to make it again. Most of the stitches are standard stitches, but there are a few reverse stitches, a few half stitches, and a few French knots so this is great for learning different techniques. It's also big enough to be a "project" but not big enough to be overwhelming.

Pros
  • Needlework
Cons
  • Packaging is ugly

Backing Stiff to Sew

Owl Trio Cross Stitch with Count Worst fabric/backing I've ever used, too stiff and tacky to the touch. He was difficult to work with and I couldn't even get him to bend down to get into my sling. Might buy a new piece of fabric/backing to embroider this image but as it was intended as a Christmas present and has been waiting for it for 9 days already, at this point something very different is likely to happen.

Pros
  • Kits Counted
Cons
  • Unbelievable Price
