Flicker 30 Hz. for LED lamps

I never thought that I would write about a lightbulb. Dimming is controversial. At a high level there is a nice bright light with the color I expected. In low light, the level is reasonable, but it pulsates/flickers. I'm guessing 30Hz. Leaving it low for long periods of time gives me a headache. Until I find another replacement, this needs to be done. John

Pros
  • DURABILITY - 25,000 hours lifetime; Consumes only 7W and replaces a traditional 50W light bulb; shatterproof; Pure white on the outside
Cons
  • No instructions

Terrible dimming curve

These fixtures are good because they have a pretty narrow beam angle at full power, but the dimming curve is terrible. Below 25% power my GE Z-Wave dimmers will just turn off while the existing Osram bulbs smoothly dim to 5%. Above 25% the curve isn't linear at all, you quickly reach full lumens and then stay pretty flat for the rest of the curve. This isn't surprising with budget LED lights, and if you're going to use them for general lighting, they'll do just fine. If you intend to turn the…

The best dimmable LED lamp I know.

I bought two of these bulbs to replace a burned out Par 20 2700k fixture and because I didn't have the 6 Hypericon LEDs I had previously wanted to buy bought. Right after screwing them in I wish I had bought 6 more because they dim so much better than the hypericons which barely dim. I assumed the dimming issue was typical of LEDs (which I have installed in most of my other lights), but these bulbs dim just like the old incandescent bulbs, which are dimmed without a switch being changed…
