Nowhere in the product description does it say that the lights have a European plug. So if I had no experience changing the plug on these lights I would return them. The switch is intermittent so you can definitely toggle them on and off. You cannot rely on dimming. I would not recommend them.

It's reliable, easy to set up and so versatile. Point it up for a soft, diffused light from the ceiling. Align it exactly where you want it on your book and darken it to the degree that works best for you. Every time I go to bed to read I'm so glad I have this. Bedside lamps are for fools (like me). It was a great value that I use every day.

I bought these to place on either side of the nightstand that supports Murphy's bed. I didn't want to hang anything on the wall because I have artwork above the closet. I really like the looks and functions. They are just perfect, small, with flexible necks, they are easy to use while relaxing in bed. The light is a small circle so as not to disturb anyone in bed. The Tap On/Tap Off feature means you don't have to fiddle with the switch.

I installed two headboard lights. They are excellent as reading lamps. While they work well, the dimmer switch in the center of the base isn't a very good design. The button's sensitivity seems to change from one light source to another and from one day to another. Sometimes it responds quickly to touch and other times it doesn't respond at all. Perhaps this is due to the touch sensitivity of the sensor. I'd rather have a manual mechanical on-off switch and a slide dimmer than a touch switch.

What I like most about this product, besides the ease of installation, is that it has four levels of brightness. The first press of the switch gives you a bright directional reading light. This is perfect for bibliophiles who read before bed. Directional light allows my wife to fall asleep easily without disturbing her with bright light. Looks impressive once installed. You don't have to press the center pin to turn it on or off, a light touch is enough. To make the light brighter or dimmer, simply lightly touch the edge of the center contact (not the center). I hooked it up to a good Edison bulb and made sure the bulb is adjustable so I can use the dimming feature on this Globe Electric product. Unfortunately, it was more than deceptive.
