Much cleaner than cardboard.

Much better than the corrugated scraper I previously bought. This satisfies the cats and doesn't make a mess. Also very persistent so far.

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • No Instructions

Good stuff, I'll buy more

Cat liked it immediately, knows what it's for, even uses it to the point of failure. It has weighted rubber feet to keep it in place, which I wasn't expecting. Good item, I will buy more.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Reliability

The cat decides what to do

You never know what a cat is. My cat fell in love with this blanket immediately. However, he loves it as a bed, not as a scratch mat. He guarded this carpet from another cat all evening the first day and has been sleeping on it ever since. While I want him to use it for its intended purpose, I'm glad he likes it so much.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Only available in white

Saved the carpet on the scratching post

I bought this because my cat started scratching the bedroom carpet at night when trying to wake me. I put it where she scratches so she won't damage the carpet now. If she scratches it, it gets loud and she still wakes me up, but the carpet is safe, so I guess we both win. It's thin enough that I can open the door over it and it stays in place without slipping.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Functionality

The truth is that the rug itself is great. However

The truth is the carpet itself is great. However, my 14 year old cat refuses to use it to scratch, just as she refuses to use a scratching post. I've tried temptations like catnip on both, but she prefers rugs, much to my chagrin. But I really wanted to give this product a great review as it is very comfortable and hopefully other cats will understand the concept which my cat escaped!

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Safety

I've changed my mind

Bought one of these, saw my little one dive into it with furniture and immediately ordered a second one. It is great! 2.19 UPDATE: I just got up on all fours to check out one of these (about three weeks after purchase). Thin fibers that I can barely see begin to sprout. Some are quite long. Now I'm worried they might get in my cat's mouth and throat. I trimmed them as much as possible with scissors. Here is a photo showing two fibers. Will watch closely.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Modern

Me and my cats love it!

My cats love this thorn. The quality is much better than the regular scratch pads you find in stores and it's weighted a bit so it doesn't move or lift when scratched. It's not as small as other rugs, but it's not huge either. It's just the right size. One of my cats always preferred scratching posts to scratching posts, but he actually used this one (this is the first time I've seen him use a scratching post instead of a scratching post). I've had it for a few weeks now and it's holding up…

Just what I needed

My cat started scratching my new carpet and I needed something to cover where she was scratching. She liked to sleep on a chair near the carpet, and when she woke up, she stretched and scratched the carpet a few times. I bought this mat to cover the area where it scratches. As with all scratching posts/objects, you need to show your cat that they should be scratching the mat, not the carpet/whatever. I put a rug in that area and scraped the rug in front of her, I also put some spearmint on it…

Pros
  • A one year trial
Cons
  • ill thought out

This is a great product and a huge relief as I've been trying to find some sort of scratching product that will support their claws, keep them interested, doesn't take up too much space and doesn't fall apart since 1997. It is extremely durable and well made, with a siscal rug that they love to dig into and try to rip apart (to no avail) and a canvas border that keeps it firmly together. It's also big enough for them to roll around and take a nap. They especially love doing these things after I

Pros
  • Easy Install

  • Some little things
