Description of DonJoy Velocity Ankle Brace with Extra Support

Ideal for treating or preventing the following injuries: inversion ankle sprains, eversion ankle sprains, and unnatural rotation of the ankle. The lightweight, low-profile design easily fits into your shoe, providing the extra support you need without bulkiness. With R3 (Rapid-Rigid-Ratcheted) Technology, this brace provides circumferential tibia/fibula compression. The rigid uprights provide extra protection to your ankle during impact. Anatomically designed bilateral hinges allow for normal dorsiflexion and plantar-flexion at the ankle.

Be careful with ankle size

I am an 8.5 year old male. According to the size chart I should be M. Unfortunately, M is too big for 8.5ft height. I have to wear a sock underneath or it's useless. If you are on the smaller size of their scale, order down

Pros
  • Durable test results
Cons
  • Some issues

Ideal for contact sports. I would not use any other bandage for injuries.

I compete in roller derby in the premier league and this brace has helped me recover from a grade 2-3 ankle sprain in 6 weeks. I recommend this to any contact athlete who has a serious injury.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Reliable and durable

I bought one of these a few years ago and it has worked well for several years providing stability, rigidity, protection and comfort. It eventually wore out to the point where it was difficult to wear, but only after eight or nine years of fairly heavy use. The new one has a few extra features that make it even better.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Upgrades available

Best ankle brace ever!

I used several ankle rollers before purchasing this brace. The support is amazing and while it may look chunky, it really isn't and you don't even realize you're wearing it. Now I have them on both ankles. The only downside is that you'll probably have to buy a new one every year or two as the velcro straps wear out.

Pros
  • Leg and foot supports
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Not the best orthosis on the market

I ordered this orthosis from another website that specializes in orthotics and orthotics. I've had them (one for each ankle) for about 5 months and they've already come apart at the seams. The website I ordered from said they would provide compression but they don't. And for a few days I've been wearing a left orthotic, it has been rubbing the knot in the sole of my foot in the arch of my foot, causing my foot to hurt so bad I can't step on it. They went to the trash can. About $200 down the…

Pros
  • Orthotics, splints and supports
Cons
  • Damaged

I got these for my ankle as I had an avulsion fracture with a serious sprain. After wearing the boots for a month, I was told I would have to wear the brace for another month. This brand was recommended due to the necessary support it offers. HOWEVER, I have a small foot - a narrow 5.5 for women - and this thing seems huge! My foot is floating in a splint and my foot is wedged in my shoe because none of my tennis shoes fit because that thing is so big. Why is the smallest size for women - 8…
