🔧 Dorman 600-807 Transfer Case Shift Motor: Ideal for Ford / Mazda Models - Top Quality and Reliability Review

Worked well as a replacement for the stock Warner engine on my 2000 Ranger. The shape differs slightly from the stock motor (but all bolt holes match exactly), and the stock cable bracket is not bolted on. I developed an alternative to keep the connector stable and reduce tether fatigue. Would give 5 stars if the stock cable mount worked. That was $400 less than Ford Parts charged for that part alone. Wow.

This engine is exactly the same as the more expensive model that Gorman sells. Just because of the turn of the year they renumbered it to sell at a higher price. Fits just like the old one and works great when shifting to 4WD, both high and low gear. I'm glad I read that someone else replaced this motor as I've looked at it many times and the specs were the same for both motors but one was much more expensive than this model. Paid to read.

It fits very well and works as expected. The exchange only takes about 10 minutes. The only problem was the "brown wire" coming out of the transfer case that had nowhere to go. I'll have to check with Ford what this cable does, although the engine runs fine without it. Also, there is a small bracket for the wiring harness on the old engine that won't fit on this one, but really isn't needed. I just used some nylon zip ties to tie the strap to the frame. I would buy this again.

**UPDATE** This part took me about 19-20 months and now I need another transfer case motor. I needed to replace my rusty engine so it seemed to fit the bill. Access to the engine under my 2002 Ford Ranger was a lot easier than I expected and all the wiring was perfect. I've seen some installation instructions saying to change some wires etc but that's not the case with this motor. The cable connector was exactly the same as the old one and fitted perfectly.
