Great fan BUT the best of the spares

Great fan, blows very well but after 1 year of normal use the motor suddenly stopped working. There are no problems with the electrical connection. It just caught fire.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some bugs

Cannot run on high mode continuously

3 stars because it drew enough air to cool my truck with what I think is a really crappy radiator. However, the motor burned out after about 5 hours of use as I only ran it at high revs.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • Upgrades

Excellent product from Dorman OE Solutions

Mechanical cooling fan removed from my wife's Astor Safari Van. I raised the van to accommodate the large wheels and tires so the mechanical lock is no longer active. Great product from Dorman OE Solutions. Many Thanks

  • Quality construction

It's a fan beast

It looks like an old two-speed Taurus fan. I had an old old one that just ended up dying. I installed all of this fan and fairing into the fairing of my 2005 Dodge Ram Hemi using very small hardware and hooked them up to the DC Controls two speed relay control system. It absolutely cools much better than the factory fan. I just hope this Dorman product lasts a while. So far, so good. If he survives, he gets another star.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I won't say anything

(Updated) Packaging error fixed but still ok

Bought one of these and it's nowhere near what is advertised: 3 attachment points (not 4 as pictured), 6 blades (not 8), NO Housing . The PN on the box is correct. Planning to install this weekend. Unsatisfied! UPDATE 06/08/18: The original fan received was incorrectly packaged. I bought the correct fan and installed it. Runs well and fairly quietly, but doesn't let enough air through to cool my '98 Dakota 5.2L. Disappointed based on someone else's experience.

  • Cool product

A great fan for your project

This fan is cool. I use this in my Nova project to cool down the 383rd move. My previous electric fan would turn on and never turn off until after the car was off. This low speed fan actually turns on and off on my way. I have used this fan with a Volvo fan relay box and a BMW two speed temp switch and it works great. If you don't know this fan for your hot rod project, google it. The built-in jacket is great and fits my radiator very well. The low speed works so well that I haven't seen it…

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9

Installed on Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited. I cut off the end of this pig and soldered the stock stock connector. Had to trim about 1/4 of the edge of the driver's side ACD cover, the width was perfect, snug enough to stay in place on the radiator. The height was about three inches less than the OEM cover. With the amount of air this fan moves, even in 90*+ weather, it wasn't a problem. Both high and low speeds are good. If you have a nine, this is what you need. @@@@UPDATE January 23…

  • Good product for the price

Great fan for my Dakota electronics fan!

Just got this fan to convert to the electric fan on my 2000 Dakota 4.7L to get rid of the factory fan clutch which was horribly noisy and also used gas! This Dorman fan works great and puts out a TON of air. It feels well made and relatively quiet when installed in my truck. This fan is designed as a "puller" and has 2 speeds. So make sure it's the right one for your application if you're looking to upgrade like me. This is one of the most popular, if not the most popular, original equipment…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Functionality
