Dorman 698 100 Transmission Shift Solenoid Review

After 129 km my PT Cruiser shifted slowly. After installing this Dorman product, it shifts very well. I endorse Dorman products

Firstly if I bought this solenoid locally it would have cost me about $189 plus tax. Second, he was sent home, avoiding a trip to the parts store, which comes in handy when the car isn't working as it should. And finally, the magnet took care of both the error codes and the transmission leak. All in all it took me a few hours and $80.

The part itself is good but you have to remove the plate from the original and only 1 gasket is supplied. You need 2 shims (one on each side of the plate) so not only do you have to reuse the plate but you also have to remove the original one of the shims and if your original shims are bad then you are in trouble. The part should be connected with the purchase of an additional gasket, just in case.

I received this magnet pack new as advertised and on time. After carefully cleaning the area around the old valve, I installed the new one. Bottom line, the transmission now shifts better than ever and there are no transmission fluid leaks on my road. The best news is that it would cost me about $375 to have this item replaced at my trusted local transmission shop. Purchasing this item locally from a major auto parts supplier would have cost me $80 more than Revain. I'm happy. Camper.

First let me say that the part I received worked great and arrived on time. But I ordered a new Dorman 698100 and don't think I received it. What I received was a reconditioned Borg Warner magnet (I think) in a crumbling, greasy old box held together with duct tape. The box didn't say a Dorman, the solenoid didn't say a Dorman, and it doesn't look like the Dorman photos I have. But hey, this works great. I have no complaints but there are a few unanswered questions about this order.
