Mooring Bag Repair - Sewing

So I have a boat mooring bag that holds up well. The stuff that is. But some screenshots are missing. So I thought I'd try to fix it. Yes, this is the tool you need. Spent a little time replacing a dozen latches. A, a little worried about durability after many uses. Just take a look!

Cons

Beautiful, but definitely NOT durable!

The clasps work well enough, but they're not as secure as you'd expect from something labeled 'Heavy Duty'. If you want to easily add buttons to loose clothing, this is probably the way to go. But I wouldn't use them on a belt, girdle or anything else that would carry weight or load. They're easy enough to use with a hammer and a latch setting tool and they look very nice, they just can't take any real force.

Pros
  • Fasteners
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Easy to use after a little practice

Using this snap tool confuses the printed instructions. This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O73O3V2naDk explains it much better. After watching the video and learning how to use it works fine. Another review said the base could break. I put a small pad underneath and had no problems. I also use a hammer with a plastic head.

Pros
  • Application tools not included
Cons
  • Some minor things

Simple and inexpensive solution

Easy and convenient to use. If you don't have a lot to do (hundreds or more), this simple tool is just what you need. Easier to use and more reliable than tongs or stationary benchtop devices. I used it to insert 16 buttons into leathersmith's aprons. I have several more complex and expensive devices, but this is my go-to device unless I have to make hundreds in a hurry.

Pros
  • Popular for making accessories such as handbags, holdalls, belts, keychains, wallets and device cases
Cons
  • Non-automatic
