Works very well; Wire gauge is too thin.

Working very well. One star off for 22 or 24 gauge wire. Ginster makes good products; Increase the scale for a sure winner!

Pros
  • Good
Cons
  • Damaged

Item not used DROK 200102 DC/DC Step Down Converter

This converter generates so much electrical noise that it turns off my car radios. It's useless to me. I don't understand why this was suggested. The time to put it in the dash makes it difficult to keep up with the time allotted for a return.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Expensive

Works great with Raspberry Pi

I've had trouble with a few other adapters, but this one has worked great so far. It appears to be well sealed and will easily power the Raspberry Pi from a 12V battery source. Everything is clearly labelled. Nice that there are both male and female USB ports. Good product so far.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • So far so good

I was using a Raspberry Pi on a system running .

I used a Raspberry Pi in a system I built and placed a cylindrical DC connector on the project case. When using this barrel connector, I noticed that I would get a rainbow that was too weak. I found I was losing about 2/10 volts at the DC jack, which was enough to signal power issues. The simplest solution was to plug this into the project and apply 12 volts to the project so a small loss of current before it doesn't matter.

Pros
  • Robust construction
Cons
  • Negligible maintainability

Powered by Rasberry Pi 3 B+ and fast charging my Samsung S10 phone

So far Pie has performed well while charging my phone quite well. Doesn't heat up. 12V input, 5V output. I don't think I measured the USB port that charges my phone, but the micro USB port that goes into the Pie was accurate at 5V and I was able to draw 2.25 amps from it. When the phone was overcharged it would complain and when powered on it would charge slowly but everything seems fine so I haven't messed with it.

Pros
  • Sturdy surface
Cons
  • Some flaws

Convenient for providing 5V power where you need it.

This device is designed to power accessories without using the standard 12V power outlet. One of the best benefits of using this product is the ability to mount devices anywhere in the vehicle, although you may need an additional cable to power the 12V - and ground wire are about 6 cm long. With a 3A output, I have enough charge to simultaneously charge a small device via a standard USB socket, while a micro-USB port powers a Chromecast under my dash. Works great so far!

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Powers my Raspberry Pi and charges my iPhone!

I built my Pi into my camper as the heart of my audio and network hub. Required 5 VDC with no AC input. The buck converter provides more than enough power to keep it running when the power goes out. It would get 5 stars except that switching pumps a bit of noise into the audio system. It's not enough to tease me unless silence is required. I've been using the Pi on its own AC power supply and haven't gotten any noise, so the problem is definitely with the buck converter. For the price I can…
