ONLY bought this to fill an outlet as the generic ones I bought from Walmart, Autozone etc didn't fit. It wasn't perfect, but it fit. You have to hold it down for it to work (unless you're changing the entire node). Please note I bought this for my 2001 Lexus es-300. Tray assembly, the connector will easily scratch the frame. In general the fork is acceptable for the purposes I need it for.

This works and is just as good if not better than the original factory part. The hardest part of the digging process was removing the factory original (25 yrs had enough rust on the inside to make it an unreliable electrical connection. I found it easier to remove the ashtray assembly (screws fitted from the bottom) then I was in able to unscrew the original part. Assembly was flawless and fitted directly to the original electrical connections.

2 fuses blown. I noticed that there is an insulator inside that is not central to the heating element which is meant to prevent the element from touching the case, but you can see that it is not central just by looking at it. So I took it apart and reassembled the bottom with JB Weld and so far it works. The center hole also has too much mud so it doesn't help much. Seems ok. It was the perfect replacement for the old one in my boat; it went straight into the old hole and had the same wire connections. When I first tried it the lighter didn't pop out when it got warm like it should. I used a wooden stick (don't use metal when the power is on) to slightly bend (loosen) the spring retainers inside, causing them to pop out when they get hot. Don't buy that's my conclusion from the review. It took me a while to install this after the OEM was damaged when installing a more modern audio system tailored to my 20 year old car. The socket mechanism was fine and easily adapted to the original dash mount. When first used, the heating element is defective. A coiled metal band (?) that touches the cigar, joint, whitefish, etc.; essentially unraveled like a fallen ball of yarn from the initial heat. Thankfully no further damage was seen, but…
