Description of Electro Voice RE320 Diaphragm Dynamic Microphone

A professional-grade dynamic microphone designed specifically for recording and sound reinforcement. Ideal for applications requiring extremely low noise and the best possible tonal and transient response. Great for capturing a variety of vocal and instrument sources, and delivers terrific detail, dynamic response, and pleasing natural tone. The Variable-D pattern control minimizes positional and off-axis tonal shifts. Integrated humbucking coil and integral pop filters provide virtually noiseless performance. Unique dual-voicing switch selects from two response curves.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MICROPHONE

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MICROPHONE! That's all they say. I think it beats the RE20 in terms of looks and sonic dynamics (just my personal opinion). I always recommend using it with the DBX 286s microphone processor. This gives you significantly better results with the right settings. and also cancel out any delayed background noise in the room.

  • Sequins
Cons

All three mics are great. RE-320 sounds best for my voice

I have RE-20 and RE-27 from EV and now RE-320. All three mics are great. For my voice, the RE-320 sounds the best. This is a very reliable dynamic microphone. Don't hesitate to buy this microphone. I have all 3 EV mics and to me (just my opinion) this one sounds as good if not better than the two more expensive ones.

Pros
  • Dream come true
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Electro-Voice RE320 Large Diaphragm Dynamic Microphone

I've tested several mics (eg 8 quality mics) in the $200-$600 price range, this dynamic mic from Electra Voice is fantastic. I added a built-in preamp (like the Dynomite, a $100 item with phantom power from the Podcaster Pro) that increases the mic gain by about 25dB and gives the Podcaster interface a nice clean output.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Older model

Fantastic microphone for speech and spoken word

Excellent microphone for speech/word. It's crisp and clear and has plenty of presence. The sound is less colored than the RE20, which has a distinctive tone. I like the RE320 better than my Shure SM7B and Sennheiser MD 421 II. I have a couple of vintage Electro-Voice mics that don't sound great but were iconic in their day. It's great to see Electro-Voice able to develop such a good product.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Not bad

Came from AT-2020 and I couldn't be happier. This thing is built like a rock, made of strong steel, and has a certain weight. In terms of sound quality, it's a few years better than what I had before. Since it is a dynamic microphone, the recording pattern for podcasts is much better, so we have less background noise. We recently replaced all of the mics on our podcast with these and will never go back.

Pros
  • Regular price

Impressive microphone with excellent voice quality

EV RE320 is built like a battle tank and has excellent sound pickup quality. My main goal is to record vocals for podcasting and dubbing. Right out of the box, it reproduced excellent sounds with almost no axis offset. I've seen a local radio DJ use a smaller shock absorber and I prefer it to the big pushy guys. It gives excellent quality without high gain and I think its noise floor is lacking.

  • Good thing
Cons

Absolutely essential to get rid of RFI cell phones.

Great sound and one of the biggest problems facing the world today: radio interference from cell phones, particularly Verizon and At&tz which operate at 700MHz and 850MHz respectively. I've used condenser mics on set and live with the least noise, and one of the recurring issues is talent or other people nearby with a cell phone or other RF source introducing impulsive noise in the audio chain. What good is a $5,000 low-noise microphone if its capsule picks up impulsive RF noise? The RE320 is…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Requires an electrical outlet
