The Epson Fluid Mount Accessory for V850 offered a great way to use the Epson scanner with negatives from the 1960s. These negatives were very small (Minox) and considered lost, but the negatives were digitized with liquid lamination and the prints were of excellent quality. I highly recommend using a fluid editing system if you like old, weird, or damaged negatives.

The standard mount doesn't allow me to fine tune the focus and always produces blurry photos, especially when compared to results 'scanned' with a DSLR. This wet mount solved the problem perfectly. Finally I can even get the grain on the film.

If you want to get the most out of your Epson V850/V800 Perfection Scanner, I highly recommend using this wet mount platform. You can scan an entire negative (I scan 4x5, 120 and 35mm) without losing edge detail, and wet lamination helps tame curled or warped film, and liquid helps maximize film emulsion. I use 91% isopropyl alcohol and a very thin, optically clear mylar film instead of the more expensive liquid mounting oils and scan films.
