I was looking for a safe alternative to Aerogarden's lightbulbs which get pretty hot, shatter into millions of pieces and are very expensive. nice and bright, not too expensive and even less expensive to use as they use so little power - only 20 watts to produce what appears to be 150 watts (equivalent to an incandescent bulb). I bought these bulbs to replace the compact fluorescent bulbs that came with my photography lighting kit. I had never heard of corn bulbs before looking for new bulbs, but damn these things are bright. The body is made of durable plastic and they feel really solid. I've gone from 6500k to 6000k but still they seem whiter than my CFLs. I've thrown them in my reflective softboxes and yes they do a great job. The price is right, they are durable and, unlike CFLs, contain no mercury. Can't speak to
