No Declination - Compasses

Yes, there is no way to set the declination. It's wrong to spend. Don't even buy it. I don't know where they came from but they are a waste of time and money.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Volume

You can hardly avoid it

In order for the dial to work, it has to be absolutely flat. The dial responds slowly and poorly. Actually not a very good compass. It is very difficult to see and align the bearing. If you need a good compass, just buy a real military compass.

Pros
  • Few competitors

  • So far, so good

Great compass. I have the right to say that.

In the last 5 weeks of my wilderness treks I have gone one at a time: I have used this compass 2 weeks in the Florida Everglades, 1 week in the Hiawatha National Forest of northern Michigan, 1 week in Chekwamegon Nicolet National Forest in Wisconsin, 1 week in Finnish State Forest in Minnesota, and never had a problem. I UNDERSTAND THIS COMPASS!

Not Satisfied Best in Electronics & Gadgets

This is a well made compass but it is rotated 180 degrees and there is no way to adjust the magnetic declination which is important everywhere but especially in Die 27 degree arctic declination from true north corresponds to current magnetic north. They have potential, but it's not there yet. I'm sending mine back and just bought Suunto, it always helps me. I'm an arctic explorer and sometimes rely on a compass, particularly to measure rock structure. Also, I'm usually far away from the road…

Not suitable for a good gift

I have a few comments about this product: 1- There is a midget instruction, and it is not written clearly. To understand this, it pays to get a PhD in physics. 2- Building materials are not of very good quality. 3- The lid can't keep 90 degrees stably; The hinge pins have zero friction to keep them in place. 4- There is no way to align the line of sight with the compass guide line, there are several degrees of error. 5- The moving part of the inclinometer sticks in several places, so the metal…

Great compass! Great value for money

Great compass! Excellent value for money and quality. This is the best way to visually determine accurate bearings. Not great for use on the map, but excellent for observing objects and determining bearing. The Beileshi brand is identical but $10 cheaper. However, it does not come with a nylon pouch or strap. So buy if you want to save a few bucks. Or if you need an extra tote bag and strap, this is for you! *** I bought 6 compasses in this price range to review side by side. This one and…

maybe you'd better buy it

This is a good compass for hobbyists or motorists trying to figure out where north is. It looks very impressive and has many features, but it's not really a professional tool. I took a closer look at mine and it turned out that the bullseye is not horizontal in relation to the base. Also, the top ring is eccentric with respect to the compass rose, resulting in an error of up to about 3 degrees in reading the angle. If you really want to use it as a target compass and want to measure the width…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers

  • It's ok

Less East / Better West

I'm too old to go anywhere but the mall. I used this compass to mark the path for the new garage's concrete slab at the E/W, N/S geographic line. You say it's a compass? Say what you read in the MAG headlines? Determine the variation in your area by consulting the pilot slice map, add or subtract the difference as needed and you have reasonably accurate geographic data. The Starrett 530-100 3/8"x 100" closed roll tape was a necessary part of my project. After I drew the layout in AutoCAD, these

Now I don't feel so lost

I was recently traveling in the southern hemisphere not far from the other side of the equator and I realized I had lost my bearings. The sun isn't where it used to be for me in the Northern Hemisphere, the Big Dipper is well above the horizon and now out of my line of sight, there are no trees to speak of and most of the winter skies are overcast so I can't see the sun still see the Southern Cross? So I tried Google Maps and also downloaded some compass apps on my phone and quickly realized…
