This is a good compass for hobbyists or motorists trying to figure out where north is. It looks very impressive and has many features, but it's not really a professional tool. I took a closer look at mine and it turned out that the bullseye is not horizontal in relation to the base. Also, the top ring is eccentric with respect to the compass rose, resulting in an error of up to about 3 degrees in reading the angle. If you really want to use it as a target compass and want to measure the width of a river, for example, you have to take multiple measurements and these errors add up in your calculations. The main problem is also that a reticle compass must allow the user to hold it horizontally, look horizontally at a distant object, and then look at the compass rose to determine the angle, all without moving the compass. No matter how I twist and hold this device, I can't. I can't order everything at once. I looked at the US Army target compass that allows this. If you want an accurate tool, it might be better to buy one.
