Works Well: Video Monitors

We connected this monitor to a DVR that records inputs to our factory. It's installed at the front desk, and the adhesive seal came in handy with the heavy HTMI cable dangling from the back. I'm grateful to other authors who mentioned putting a square nut in the back slot of the monitor. this is hardly intuitive, and a piece of paper showing this would be helpful. Image quality was more than good enough for the application we're using the monitor for, and it fits nicely on a desk without taking

does the job. - Video Studio

For a cheap factory second, this little monitor gets the job done. Not a great picture or anything, and there's a lot of overscanning, but as a fast monitor it works well. I use mine as a mannequin. When I connect to a computer, the program needs a monitor to display the image. I only connected this so the computer would have something to connect to and the software would have something to show. Once connected I just change the resolution to what I need and I'm done. It is powered by USB C onโ€ฆ

Actually works from a USB power bank or other 5V power source. Hooray!

Revain has mixed reviews, so first let me say that applies to the Eyoyo Model S801C 8-inch color LCD video monitor. The S801C (note the C in the model number) is unique in that it can operate from a 5V power supply connected to this video monitor via the Type-C jack. Didn't really expect this to work, but it works and works when plugged into a lithium power bank. The picture is good. Speakers are loud. Works with a 5V power supply. That's all I needed from this small 8 inch HDMI display. Eyoyoโ€ฆ

I am disappointed with the HDMI overscan that this display shows

. Overscan means that pixels left, right, top and bottom are not displayed. Some graphics drivers can compensate for this in the driver configuration settings, but if you're running Linux without X-Windows (i.e. a text or framebuffer console) there doesn't seem to be a way to compensate for this and you're stuck with console characters, that are not displayed. The only non-X-wndows Linux solutions I've seen are for the Raspberry Pi graphics driver only. If you're using X-Windows you *can* getโ€ฆ

For some reason I didn't update my original review after purchasing my Eyoyo S801C 8th Gen Inch 4:3 Small Video Monitor LCD Color Screen 1024 x 768 VGA BNC AV HDMI Ypbpr input for PC CCTV Home Security (support power bank 5V input) works properly with my Raspberry Pi 3B running Ubuntu-Mate 16.04 but last night (September 1st 2019), after several iterations, I set up my micro SD card so that this screen now runs Stellarium on Ubuntu-Mate-18.04.2 (ubuntu-mate-18.04.2-beta1-desktop-armhfโ€ฆ
