Not what I was hoping for FC Pastel Pencil Sharpening

This is a study sharpener but I still have trouble getting my Faber Castell pastel pencils to sharpen. I'm a little frustrated as I found this sharpener to be probably the best for keeping the edge sharp. It's an improvement over a few other sharpeners I've tried, but like I said, it's not the perfect solution I was hoping for.

Pros
  • Handy
Cons
  • Infinitely slow

The best sharpener I've found. FULL STOP

After trying several types of sharpeners, I finally settled on this model because it sharpens my artist pencils better than any other product. In fact, I keep one in my pencil case so I have it handy when I'm on the go. Most of the other brands of pencils I've tried have had their pencil tips break off. This shaves just the right amount of wood due to its sharp blades. Plus, two sharpening options make it perfect for almost any artist.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Useless features

*The only* sharpener you need!

I needed a quality sharpener for my new FC Polychrome pencils and the boy provided it. What I like most about this sharpener is that it barely removes the precious pigment from my precious expensive pens, yet still delivers a sharp and fine point. That's incredible. I have several different brands of pencil sharpeners (staedtler, derwent, el cheapo) and NONE works like this. It is made in China but still matches the quality of Faber Castell. Seriously, I don't think FC can come up with anything

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket

Not suitable for watercolor pencils

If you are buying this for your Faber-Castell watercolor pencils I would not recommend this product. It's not like it's complete junk, but you have to push really hard to get the hexagonal pins into the smaller hole. This will destroy the pencil's coating (no big deal, only harms OCD), but if you press too hard or carelessly pull, the core will crack (frustrating the entire populace, deadly to OCD). Can you use a bigger hole? Yes it works. But that doesn't give you a perfectly sharp tip, which…

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • old

Nothing to complain about. That's exactly what I wanted. I love them so much that I recently bought another one in case I lose them and need to keep the glasses I like. To answer a potential buyer's question, yes, the colored side does not sharpen in the same way or to the same extent as the regular pencil side. However, I stuck the colored pencil into the side of the graphite pencils and he sharpened it into a long thin point. Note: I am planning to buy some new colored pencils - two identical

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Something different
