It didn't work for us initially because we only used the pin and wedges on the edges of the rock for fear they might get stuck. Once we went right down the middle, it separated perfectly. THERE IS A LEARNING CURVE FOR THIS TOOL. Make sure you use the same amount of force each time you hit the pin and wedge with the hammer. Hit him once or twice and move on to the next wedge. Also arrived a day earlier than expected. I want to upload photos but can't?
I had some large granite stones in the center of the yard that I wanted to move around and make a small wall out of. These springs and wedges were excellent for splitting stones. The key was making sure each was about 4-6 inches tall and the stones ripped as seen. Before I realized I had spaced them too far apart and a few tips broke from too much effort but I don't think it was a quality fault just an operator error, it worked like a charm every time!
