This material has been confirmed to be none other than canola oil!

If you've ever taken a lab class or worked in a research lab, you know that almost every chemical compound has a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). This grinding oil is no exception. If you do an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) search for Fellowes "Crushing Oil" you can easily find a PDF document on the internet. The safety data sheet confirms that this "crushing oil" actually consists of more than 99% rapeseed oil (CAS no. 120962-03-0) without any other ingredients. Don't hesitate to save aโ€ฆ

Canola oil possibly with BHT stabilizer

I bought this to replace an empty bottle of Fellowes shredder oil (the old bottle didn't list the ingredients). As others have pointed out, it's just canola oil, which I buy at the grocery store for $5 a gallon. and I make it as bar oil for my chainsaw. Using a chainsaw trick, I add 1/4 teaspoon of non-toxic, food-grade BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) powder to a gallon of oil, which reduces oxidation and gumming. My three-ounce bottle of BHT costs less than $10 (other places Revain sells larger

User-friendly and useful office item

This is an easy-to-use and useful office item if you use shredders a lot. This is an all purpose oil that will work with any make and model as long as such oils are approved for that model. The last part is very important because some models do not allow oils, forcing you to use more expensive leaves that you will have to shred. Sheets work well once in a while, but nothing works better than pure oil sprayed where it's needed most. Unfortunately, some mills are sealed in such a way that thereโ€ฆ

The chopper works better after using this oil

I bought this oil when I bought the chopper and initially I used it regularly to lubricate the machine and the machine worked perfectly. Over time I forgot to use it as directed and we really didn't use it at all for a while. A few days ago I noticed that my shredder was getting stuck due to the amount of paper it was going through and I thought it was great that my shredder was going bad. That's when I remembered I had this oil and hadn't made it in a while. So I gave it a good dose of oil and

Frugal "Bright Guy " compared to shredding leaves!

The key to keeping your shredder in top condition is simple: Regardless of your shredder's advertised capacity, be careful when shredding the minimum number of sheets at a time to avoid paper jams and motor overload. Clean frequently and reduce blade friction by properly lubricating the blades regularly and consistently. Keep in mind that you may need to lubricate more frequently when shredding heat-sensitive paper, receipts, or other types of carbonless paper, as these types of paper leaveโ€ฆ
