Works great with Untangle NG Firewall

I've been using this with Untangle in the closed panel for the last 3 months and it has worked flawlessly; Barely feels warm. Maybe a little overkill for the intended purpose, but that's how I always do it ;)

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Wonderful built-in PC Product

Good design. Great solution for home firewall/router. I was using Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS (Server Edition) and set up a PfSense VM and a bridge on the LAN side. My WAN is running at 1Gbps (tested) but even after optimizing the cores I was only able to get around 650Mbps throughput. I agree! Update: After more than six months of work, I made some changes to the hypervisor and VM interfaces and was able to increase the throughput to around 950 Mbps with a much lower average VM load. I currently have…

it's exactly as advertised

Revain thinks that "thickness" is one of the features of the device, so I gave it five stars for that indicator because it's definitely thick. Seriously, it works great with the OPNsense firewall I have installed on it. With a helpful firewall rule set and other OPNsense features enabled, I can get over 900Mbps when connected to my ISP at 1Gbps. Six ports is more than I need, but I wanted to be sure I could get that amount of bandwidth. Maybe I could go for a lower model. Keep in mind that this

Excellent performance but value in customer service

I have purchased several of these devices for myself, my business and my clients. The small 4-port boxes offer amazing value for their performance. For example, if you have a scenario where you need to connect multiple employees via VPN for secure remote audio and video production, 6-port storage is amazingly capable of transferring large files. The best feature overall is the customer support. When I occasionally needed service, they responded almost immediately and were single-mindedly…

Small box, hot, a lot of power!

I ordered an i5-2700U and paired it with 240GB MSSD and 16GB RAM. Overkill for what it's supposed to be, but I'm very glad I did. With a connection speed of 1GB running PfSense (and now OpnSense) with full IDS/IPS support, multiple blacklists and HTTP proxies for parental control VLANs, this thing is consuming a lot of that power! The downside of this setup is that it gets hot (but not too hot - in a closed network rack in a closet with little or no airflow, I see a maximum of 55-60°C, an…

Powerful! in Minis

This is indeed a compact multiport powerhouse, slightly larger than an AppleTV set, but it puts many network vendors and their kits to shame. Expected questionable quality, but now I'm running a couple of devices loaded with pfsense/carp as a fully redundant solution.

  • The Best

  • Not the Best
