Perfect for my needs

Being sensitive to chemical odors, I was concerned by the many reviews of other cutting mats that mentioned odors and how long it takes for the odor to go away. This is why I chose this mat after reading MANY reviews (reading both negative and positive) and was VERY happy. As a beginner quilt, it suits my needs perfectly with the sizes and linear grids it offers.

Good carpet. to quilting

I use cutting mats every day. This one is holding up pretty well, showing no cut damage and luckily doesn't smell as bad as some of these! All self-healing mats degrade over time, this one seems to be as good as most in that regard. I like the color too. I use black and light colored rugs for various craft and art projects. If you can get it for a good price you should be satisfied.

The new model isn't as good as the old one

I've bought a few of these Fiskar cutting mats and have always been happy with them until I bought this recently. My most recent rug appears to be made from a different plastic product as the matte material slides across the countertop and worse, the fabric slides around trying to make precise cuts. All previous plastic mats were not so smooth and had perfect friction. It's so bad that I'm going back to using old worn frosted glass and am reluctant to buy another Fiskars unless I can find a…

Wouldn't buy it again

So far so good. I used to have a different brand but it got damaged when I moved. This one isn't as thick as the other one but seems to work well. Edited: I've had this rug for about 4 months now and thought I'd update my review. This rug does not "heal" on its own like the brand I had previously. I use a circle cutter and a regular cutter and both leave marks that remain visible and leave edges. I use a lot of fine fibers and yarns and they start to stick and stick to rough edges. This carpet…

Not worth the money

Probably my fifth Fiskars mat of this size that I've bought in the last ten years or so. My last mat broke after a few years of heavy use so it had to be replaced. Have bought 3 carpets so far, sent two back - with each numbering on the left. On all Fiskars mats I've purchased in the past AND on all the pictures in the catalogue, the mat is shown in the lower right corner with a number starting from the right. That's how my workplace is set up and that's how I wanted it to be. None matched the…

Why didn't I get the one shown in the ad?

More like 2.5β˜…. Reasons I bought this item: + LARGE SIZE: Most 24 x 36 rugs are only marked for 22-23" x 34-35". It is larger than 24 x 26 with a half-inch margin all around. My desktop is 26 inches so I love how it fills up the space! + ADDITIONAL LINES AND DOTS: Other options mostly had 1" marks and some had Β½" marks. There are quarter inch dots here too, so helpful! KHAKI: I thought this would look nice on my birch wood workbench, but unfortunately I ended up with a dark green color instead.

Pros
  • Crafts & Sewing
Cons
  • Slightly torn

mostly excellent - one mistake

I've had one of these rugs for 13 years and it was finally ready to be replaced - it had a lot of lint sticking out in the cuts - especially from cutting fusible fleece. But 13 years is a great time. I had to search a lot to find this one - I didn't want a gray one with a black square. I'm not a quilter and just wanted a plain rug. I finally found out that to get what I wanted I had to search for Eco. Pros: The green is a lot softer than my old one and I really like it. It's green on both sides
