As advertised. Used with my can bus tool and works pretty well. Great for those who want to see exactly this kind of information streamed about their car all the time.

Misleading pictures - in the first picture the switch is closer to the OBD side but it looks like the second picture, where it is located on the DB9 side. The cable works but it is very annoying that the pictures are misleading.

We use it with the Seeed CAN-Bus 2.0 Adruino shield. Rest assured and read all comments as it seems like a lot of people are buying this for the wrong reasons and it won't work. It's not the cable, it's the app.

The first image on the product page clearly shows the OBD2 side switch so the driver can use the switch on most vehicles. However, the product I received has a switch on the DB9 side, which seems pointless to me. Asked for a replacement but was told it would take a month. To return.

From the description it says it converts ODB2 signals to an RS232 signal, presumably for connection to a computer that has the appropriate decoding software installed. In fact, it just takes a subset of the ODB2 signals and routes them to pins on the DE9 connector, which is commonly used for RS232 connections to a PC. There is an industrial CAN connection scheme which is a DE9 connector so I am assuming this cable is to allow the automotive ODBII to interoperate with the industrial network.

It has NO interface circuitry. You CANNOT connect it to your laptop's serial port. That being said, that was never the purpose of the cable, nor the purpose of those I'm comparing it to below.
