Tripod for HTC Vive

I bought them to use for IR beacons on HTC Vive. They are perfect for this purpose, very stable, don't wobble at all. They are solid and appear to be well built. Very little floor space required. So if you don't have a lot of space, they work fine. If you have more space you can lengthen them for more stability, but even at max height they don't move at all. Even with a slight vibration, these boxes produce. Combined with a tripod ball head, it's a turnkey solution for your VR space.

Great for the price

I gave this product 5 stars for its value for money. I travel a lot to give sessions and needed something good enough to hold a flash/umbrella or LED. The quality is decent enough, at $37 it's a steal, but at the same price, don't expect high-performance, pro-grade hardware. I work hard and consider them almost disposable, will scold them for a year or so and buy new ones. If you need something professional or want to hold a lot of weight, you'll need to spend a little more.

Not the best BUT for the price. . .

I have this bobtail cat, who the hell. I set up a small product photography studio in my basement - it took ten years until my sister threw that cat at me. Long story short, this cat went crazy and one of my coasters in the background broke because of her. Of course, this happened while I was broke and I'm not going to spend a lot of money on a legitimate brand. These tripods are designed for studio lighting. --- I use them to support a ten foot roll of paper. Not what they were meant for. But…

Much better than I expected.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received the package. For the price I was expecting something very light. Not correct. They have the weight of something much more expensive. The workmanship is good, not the best professional device, but the joints move smoothly and everything is tight. The base is strong and wide enough. The stands easily fit my Alien Bees, one with a 51" parabolic reflector and diffuser cloth on the front and the other with a 30x60" softbox. The included carry case feels…

Great for light weight LED panels and SMALL soft boxes

I've been using them for a few months now and I really like them. They're a great, easy addition to my kit. The extra height they can attain is extremely valuable. They are best suited for LED panels and small soft boxes. I used a 36" deep parabolic softbox with a Bowens Speed Light GODOX mount adapter on it and the stand could tip over in some wind. Designed for that very stressful situation when you're worried, talents with a Softbox to hit.I would recommend a legal C-stand for anything that…

From video about good for lighting

I have used the kit about 10 times. I bought these because of the greater height and pocket. Overall excellent for the price. I'm giving 4 stars for two complaints: 1) Unacceptable full height wobble. The lights used are within the manufacturer's weight limit specification. Lowering each segment 2-4 inches provides stability. I've found the usable height to be about seven feet. 2) The shock spring on each segment is probably designed to cushion the impact of a falling segment if the beginner…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Very expensive

Works great with Vive base stations! I have carpet and it is absolutely durable. Once they were set up and my room calibrated, I didn't even have to move or adjust them, and I had no trouble tracking them in VR. The vibration from the beacons is noticeable when you actually place your hand on the bar, but otherwise doesn't affect tracking and can't be seen or heard. Footprint can be an issue for those with very small play areas or standing room only, but otherwise I think lightweight stands…

Great tripods for Oculus Rift sensors.

I ordered these off label and am using them for Oculus Rift VR sensors for an experimental setup with two 360 degree sensors. The tripods are fantastic, with good build quality and a very solid feel. The tote bag is great for when you need to pack and carry your stuff and seems sturdy enough. There's plenty of room for two tripods, USB extension cables that you'll no doubt use, and sensors if you put them in a protective case. Only thing I wish they had a ball joint at the top so you can adjust

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Functionality

Nice stands but they are partly plastic

They are pretty much as advertised. Lightweight portable stands, but they also have a lot of plastic parts. ! They are designed for lighting fixtures. I've had a lot of tripods and stands with plastic mounts, and those grips and clamps around the tubes are also plastic. Plastic breaks and cracks over time, making it impossible to tighten anything. So personally I would NOT use heavy lights mounted on these stands and be careful not to over tighten the handles. Only as far as necessary so that…
