Fred ROMAN CANDLES Numeral Birthday Review

Love the clever use of roman numerals, especially for those of us over 50. Again, our group may be the only ones who know what the numbers mean!

I bought these candles with the intention of using them for some elderly relatives. There is no C candle. Roman numeral 90 is XCI, I think there should be enough candles for all ages up to 100. And I know I can do LXXXX, but that's not the point.

My husband teaches Latin so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get him Roman Numeral Candles for his birthday! They were strong and did not immediately begin to melt. We haven't lit them in a very long time so I don't know how long the wicks will last. Needless to say he liked it!

I know they are candles but they started to melt so quickly it wasn't as sweet as I thought. The wick, or whatever it was called, was very short. So don't expect to light it in the kitchen but go to the dining room and put the cake on the table because you will have a part of the cake that you cannot eat.

They're not very big. I don't know if they said how big they are, just thought they were bigger than they were. I thought it would be thicker and bigger. Very small Maybe I didn't notice when they indicated the size of the product. But just so you know, it's not much at all.

They make me laugh when I use them at birthday parties. This is my second sentence. Used the first set a few times but was afraid they would be harder to find so bought them as spares. It is also interesting to see how schooling has changed compared to previous generations. Children today cannot read Roman numerals! Shame!

The only problem is that these candles can only give you up to 89; If you know someone who is 90 years or older, these candles are useless because candle C doesn't exist. (100=C; 90=XC; 91=XCI; 92=XCII etc.). The obvious target audience for these candles is the elderly - putting 40, 50 or 60 individual candles in a cake is impractical; By the time you've lit them all, the first few will have melted into the cake, so rendering them unsuitable for people over 90 is a serious oversight.
