This is a really good product. My cats scratched it as soon as it arrived and there was no visible damage to the carpet even though my big strong cat attacked it. The problem is they won't use it. I tried many ways to get their interest, but they were used to other scratchers so couldn't accept it as an alternative. I'm disappointed as this is a good product but if the cats don't adapt it doesn't work.

I first bought one of these to put on the floor and our cats loved it. I bought two cardboard scratching posts and hung them on the wall to scratch and while they worked they left bits of cardboard EVERYWHERE and they don't last long. So I just bought more of these and screwed them directly to the wall with screw cap screws. Cute, functional, affordable, saves on sofa and dining room chairs! I love it!

We have tried cardboard scratching posts and vertical scratching posts but our cat prefers a horizontal surface. She used our fireplace bricks, which told us her needs for horizontal scratching, so we ordered this rug. She loves it! When she's not scratching him, she's sleeping on him or riding him, squeezing him into a heap and rubbing his head against him. It's definitely a hit and the price is good.
