Description of 🌞 Capture the Sun: 4" x 4" Sunprint Kit for Amazing Photographic Results!

Contains twelve 4" x 4" sheets of sunprint paper and a Plexiglas overlay. This Plexiglas overlay helps press objects such as leaves flat in contact with the paper to insure a good print. Developed by educators at the Lawrence Hall of Science, Sunprints encourage an interest in the photographic process using only sun, water, and a bit of imagination. Place a fern, flower, or other object on the special paper and set it in the sun briefly. Then rinse the paper in water and watch as a beautiful long-lasting image appears. Developed at the Lawrence Hall of Science, Berkeley, California

Funny paper project

Ordered as an outdoor item for the summer. The set was as promised and worked great. We had a couple of kids who got overly excited and washed the paper too early resulting in a very bright image, but they were still excited and happy.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

back to blue: Paper

This product works well. After being placed in the sun, the paper turned from blue to white fairly quickly within a few minutes. If you don't stop the process with water, the paper will turn blue again. So if you don't like the initial exposure, put it back in the box for a few hours and try again.

Pros
  • Feel good
Cons
  • Secret

Works as advertised

I've been buying this cyanotype set for over 35 years to use with the kids at the beginning of the photo. This is an easy way to teach light sensitivity. The only problem with the new set is that the thick plexiglass square that came with it has been replaced with a much thinner square. There isn't enough weight to hold leaves, petals, etc. flat against the surface of the paper, so the results aren't as impressive.

Pros
  • Then rinse the paper with water and watch a beautiful, long-lasting image emerge.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Fun and educational for kids - and so easy to use!

I bought this set for my 7 year old granddaughter. She had a blast making sunprints with all sorts of objects, which led to 2D and 3D prints. Some of the prints came out so well we laminated them for her to hang on her bedroom wall. Creating sunprints was so easy that she had no trouble with the entire process from start to finish. I would have no hesitation in recommending this product as a fun and educational activity for young children.

Pros
  • Designed at Lawrence Hall of Science, Berkeley, CA
Cons
  • Crumpled

Enjoy outdoor walks

I loved playing with this as a kid and it's so much fun to do with your kids. Even the packaging is the same! I put this in my kids (ages 3 and 4) "adventure sets" when we were touring the RMNP. They liked to collect things while hiking and then make art when we stopped for lunch. It took me a while to figure out that the acrylic sheet had a layer of adhesive on each side - I really couldn't figure out what that thing was! Remove the glue that looks like cardboard and you'll be fine.

Pros
  • Put a fern, flower or other object on a special paper and put it in the sun for a while.
Cons
  • weak
