Working with minor modifications

Fitted for the first time and still leaking. Modified work in this one with old factory blank. Leakage is less, but I had to use a factory seal rather than an aftermarket one.

Pros
  • Engine cooling and air conditioning
Cons
  • Vulgarity

So far a good pump for parts

I hate to call it easy to install but it's not fun. After everything is removed it takes about 2 hours minus the awful gms coolant bypass pipe. Do yourself a favor and buy 5 extra parts and the dielectric grease you need for installation. To install the pump you will also need a large breaker, a 36mm socket and a flywheel locking tool. There are also many such kits. I've driven about 1400 miles since install, will update if problems arise. The truck runs quieter and smoother than ever.

  • Automotive

Stay away, completely out of order Less than 10,000 miles

Stay away! I installed this water pump on my 2008 Duramax. This is the sixth water pump I have installed on various trucks that my friends and I have owned. I usually only use acdelco, but I chose Gates because I've always had good luck with their tubes and straps. Oil immediately started leaking from the water pump because the o-rings were the wrong thickness. Fast forward 9,000 miles later and coolant is already leaking from the drain hole. 2 failure points confirm this is indeed a low…

Pros
  • Water pumps
Cons
  • No power
