GE Lighting Proline 500 Watt Halogen Review

I have 2 500W outdoor spotlights. These bulbs are exact replacements for the original bulbs. I checked all 6 bulbs and they all worked. Most important for long life is not to touch the bulbs with bare fingers as the oil from your skin will cause the bulbs to break quickly due to the difference in glass temperature between the oiled glass and the neighboring non-oiled glass. I recommend these 500 watt bulbs.

I bought 2 boxes just in case I had a high failure rate due to the light I put them in. I bought a 500w dual halogen bulb from Harbor Freight. and within hours one of their lightbulbs blew out (it looked like a nice piece of silver, not a clear lightbulb). Needless to say, I replaced the blown bulb (while wearing gloves to avoid contaminating the oil), one of the GE bulbs ignited the light and illuminated my work area without incident. They're at least half the price of the big department stores and work great. I got them to replace a blown bulb in my work light that uses 500w T-type halogen bulbs like this one. My work light is similar to this: Voltec 08 00209 500 Watt Portable Work Light, but I bought mine from a large store. Definitely recommend it. I fitted these bulbs to numerous headlights about 3 months ago and have used them many times since. These bulbs work as advertised but one bulb blew out after just one night. With this type of lighting, it is very important not to get oil on the bulbs with your fingers, otherwise this will shorten the life of the bulbs.
