🔧 Enhanced Gear Keeper RT5 5801 Retractor Extension Review

The clasps are secure and strong and the cord is tightly woven and very strong. But even a moderate key ring will cause the tip to move down. It stretches about four inches and weighs just a few ounces. It retracts from full extension but does not fully retract. I was expecting better draw power as this is a Gear Keeper product.

The retractor itself is of very high quality. Unfortunately, the snap button relies on the flexibility of a thin piece of plastic, which is junk and slips off fairly easily. I have several much better versions of the "Combo MOLLE Mount Gear Keeper (Shears Retractor) 3OZ". Even the MOLLE attachment clip is unlikely to break, it will make a loud popping noise and you will find that you lost your badge/tool/etc.

This item has some advantages over the RT5-5813 which I also own. However, it does not have an easy way to attach an identification badge. My job requires that I carry identification at all times in addition to a pair of keys and a security token. This is a cheap option that usually wears out quickly. After seeing the Gear Keeper Mic Keeper at the LE accessory store it was a natural first as I started looking for a more reliable option. It would be an excellent product if they offered multiple…
