Fast and very convenient. A decent bonus.

I have several of these Glyph Atoms and they are very fast, light, small and versatile. I switch between computers from different manufacturers and therefore use it in all three interfaces. Of course you're wondering if an SSD isn't just an SSD, but as it turns out, it's not. The presence of 3 interfaces is very convenient. But the speed at which the Glyph Atom runs is far superior to any other external SSD I've ever used, and I've used many of them, including very small Samsung external SSDsโ€ฆ

Disappointed - in device and service

Very disappointed that I thought this was the best SSD. Literally a month after purchase it stopped working. I sent it back to Glyph and they didn't care that it contains a lot of irreplaceable data. They said they had to replace the SSD unit because it was an "older" version and was only running at 7% efficiency. There is no answer as to why a "newโ€ drive that has only been used a few months fails so quickly. After repairing, they promised to return it to me at night due to urgent need, butโ€ฆ

Another amazing drive from Glyphtech

These guys SUPPORT what they sell: you get someone on the line if you need one, the quality of the drives is tested to the highest level, not just by a statistical quota, they guarantee not only the disk, but the (recoverable) data - they did it for me and it was a godsend: I sent them the disk, they recovered the data for FREE; when I did the same with TechFusion (a LaCie drive data recovery company, it cost me $2,000 to recover the recoverable data). Before you buy cheaper hard drivesโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • boring packaging

FANTASTIC engine. Extremely reliable and well built, absolutely incredible performance and excellent integration with OS X. I absolutely love this drive and use it daily in my regular workflow as well as in my music production workflow (where I store 500GB of sound libraries). ). I wish other manufacturers made their products the same way Glyph does - the world would be a better place. The ONLY complaint I have is what others have mentioned: green status LED, eyes burning. This thing acts likeโ€ฆ

Twice as fast as my SanDisk 900 on i7 iMac USB C Thunderbolt 3

Fast! I'm running this on the USB-C port (Thunderbolt 3) of my 2017 i7 iMac and it's exactly twice as fast as my 3 San Disk 900's that only work correctly on USC 3 on the same machine. On this Atom machine, CI transferred 141 GB via USB in 4.5 minutes, and many, many of those files were small image files optimized for downloading from the Internet (150 KB on average). The San Disk 900 (2TB) took almost 11 minutes to transfer the same files to the same computer and drive (2TB SSD). Exactly twice

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

Incredibly fast and quiet!

The thing is an absolute ANIMAL. I say this with great authority because I'm often unfazed by external hard drives. But with a 2015 MacBook Pro connected via a USB cable, this is a seriously serious drive. It is absolutely silent and you can only tell that it is working by the very bright green LED. I edited almost an hour of video with this kid, and the Mac running Final Cut Pro X buzzed like nothing happened. There was absolutely no lag when watching videos or playing 1080 HD videos at 60โ€ฆ

Pros
  • also understandable for the old
Cons
  • reliability

Drive failed, poor customer support, not as fast as advertised

I bought a Glyph Atom drive for about $400 almost 2 years ago because I needed a fast USB C/Thunderbolt 3 compatible portable drive Testing the drive with Blackmagic Disk The speed test showed speeds in the 300 range, not 500 (I tried both the USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 cable and the longer Thunderbolt 3 cable that I bought separately specifically for this drive) . The drive has always had issues when intermittently disconnected from the laptop, causing my laptop to want it removed without properlyโ€ฆ
