It's definitely too big. I had to hem 2 inches on each side to get the right size. About halfway through the Renaissance Afternoon Mass, the girdle began to curl up at the sides. This is normal for an item that is used occasionally, but is not recommended for daily or regular use. If you are a tall person who usually has to buy twice as much clothing to fit in online clothing shopping, DO NOT do this, maybe even a little less.

The stretchy fabric folds over time to smooth out creases on the sides and while the elastic stretches great, the zippers are too weak to stretch before opening. Other than those things, I enjoy it! I wanted a plain sash with a sash for my Renaissance festival costumes (mostly for a specific garment) before investing in a corset. It does a great job but be prepared to iron it after each wear and it won't stretch far.

Looks exactly like the picture. Although I will say that the quality seems more costume oriented. Be careful with the clasps as they seem a bit fragile. When attempting to remove the clasps, be sure to support the base of the clasp and gently pry on it with your fingernails. I wouldn't recommend ripping it apart as can be done with stronger clips on button down shirts.
