Thinner material than expected.

Pretty good, but I think it's a bit weak. I was hoping the material would be a bit thicker to withstand some camping abuse. It seems well made and suitable for a large package.

Pros
  • Backpack Accessory
Cons
  • Expandable

Ideal for outer frame kits

I have a Jansport Carson 80 outer frame kit. It fits like a dream even with my tent and other gear attached to the outside. It kept my backpack dry while I was carrying it and even when my backpack was hung from a tree at night during a thunderstorm! Can't ask for more.

Pros
  • Camping and hiking
Cons
  • Only available in black

If you must have it

Don't really think that having a suitcase is necessary. None of them fit, they want to be blown away by a gust of wind and fall, hitting the limbs. Buy a good lightweight backpack, use stuff sacks and fill your backpack with a garbage bag. The garbage bag is much lighter. If you must use one, this one is fine. I've only worn it once and will probably never wear it again.

Pros
  • Sport and Leisure
Cons
  • Quality

Withstands the wind Torres del Paine

I used this on a REI Mars 80L backpack. I took it to the W Trek in Torres del Paine. On certain days we had consistent 50+ mph winds, but this fly stayed in place without turning into a windsock. One limitation might be that I'm 200cm tall, so maybe I was a bigger hurdle for my backpack than some people. We never had a heavy downpour, but in light rain (which is painful at 50+ mph) it kept things dry.

Pros
  • Backpacks, Bags & Accessories
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

<3 Granite Gear - Camping

I haven't used this backpack case yet but I feel more confident once I have it. My backpack is Granite Gear, as are many of my accessories (bags, etc.) and their products never stop evolving. The raincoat I ordered is the size of my backpack but still quite large. Still, it's better to be too big than too small, right? I don't feel like it's big enough to leak or come loose, but I have to pull hard on the elastic to secure it around my backpack. I had a Sea to Summit cover that I borrowed from…
